About Ellena

I hold an MSc in Financial Regulation and Compliance (Distinction) and a BA in Political Science and International Relations (Russell Group). FCA Graduate Scheme employee.

GCSE grades: 7A*s, 4As, 2Bs
A-Level grades: ABB

Tutors and mentors have been incredibly important in my education and career journey so far. I offer graduate scheme coaching. I enjoy explaining difficult ideas clearly, and I like seeing the transition from stuck to confident.

About the lesson

I offer one-to-one online lessons for GCSE, A-level and university students, and coaching for graduate scheme applicants. I also help students write UCAS personal statements that are clear, specific and convincing.

GCSE and A-Level: Maths, English, Geography. Lessons are tailored to your exam board and set texts, with a focus on what examiners are looking for: building an argument, using evidence and writing clearly under time pressure.

University: Politics, International Relations and financial regulation. I will help you understand the material, plan essays and dissertations, and prepare for exams. My approach is to teach and coach, rather than write the work for you.

Graduate scheme coaching: I joined the Financial Conduct Authority through its prestigious graduate programme in 2019.

My approach is to start each lesson with what the student needs most (a topic they are stuck on, an essay draft or an upcoming deadline). I explain things plainly, check the student understands and finish each lesson with clear next steps. Option to send work ahead of the session and use the session to improve it.

Lessons are usually one hour. Coaching sessions can be one hour or 90 minutes ahead of interviews. For UCAS applications, you can book a one-hour session where we go through your draft together, or send it beforehand for written feedback and tracked suggestions.
