About Nancy

I especially enjoy working with children, and have a lot of fun ways of explaining concepts. I am also a church organist and children's choir director.

It is pure fun! I get paid for having fun all day. Kids also share with me their jokes. For instance, why was 6 afraid of 7? Because 7 8 9.

I started teaching in college while working on my music degree.



UCLA and CSUN for most of my undergrad work in piano performance and pedagogy, though I didn't complete the degree.

We have fun!  I try to get into the minds of my students so that I can reach them where they are, developmentally and psychologically, so that they feel motivated:  learning to play a musical instrument is a long term thing!

I am also a church organist and children's choir director.  You can hear / see my musical work at Belairpres.org or LA's channel 13 every Sunday at 9 am.  (I am not included on every Sunday, but some.  I can direct you to those archived services that include my work.)



I specialize in those whom no one else would teach - the hard to reach, "lazy" and unmotivated. 



Enjoy the journey of learning music!  It is a long one, so find someone who helps makes it meaningful for you. 



The BLM protests! I attended with a young black student who is now 12 and whom I started teaching piano after church when he was 5. 



A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Do you know what you don't know?  Or do you sense you know of your unknowingness, but can't articulate it?  Or perhaps you are in a total state of ignorance and don't even realize what you don't know. 

Education is a long and mysterious process.  Read "Educated," by Tara Westover, or "Zen in the Art of Archery."  These will blow your mind!

$35 for 30 minutes, $45 for 45 minutes.  I generally only do 30 minute lessons for young beginners; everyone else gets 45.
