About Danielle

Welcome to my page! I'm a pianist, composer, and music producer from the US with more than 10 years of teaching experience in piano, music theory, songwriting, and music production. I have extensive experience in the music industry as I worked for the Recording Academy, which is the organization that produces the GRAMMY awards. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Music Technology and Composition from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and have completed a music post-production course at Abbey Road Institute. I have a deep passion for music education. I enjoy watching my students progress and seeing the joy that comes with learning to make music. I am a patient, kind, and fun teacher who guides and motivates my students to reach their full musical potential. I love what I do and equally love sharing my passion for music with my students.

♫ With me, students can learn:
» To play your favorite songs on the piano
» To read sheet music
» Music theory (scales, chords, melodies and advanced theory)
» To compose and improvise on the piano
» To write your own original songs!

I offer 30 minute, 45 minute, and 1 hour lessons

I can show you that learning the piano can be easy, fun and rewarding! I use an overhead camera to ensure the highest quality lessons. I also send a video recap of what we worked on after the lesson to help you practice. :)

During our lessons the student sets the pace. I tailor each lesson to specifically fit my student's interest and abilities to ensure they are not only progressing, but also enjoying the process of making music! The lesson's focus is on the type of music the student wants to play, whether it's classical, pop, singer-songwriter, or another genre altogether.

If you're already playing the piano, we can work on improving your technique, expanding your repertoire, and challenging yourself to learn more difficult and rewarding pieces.

If you're starting to write your own music, I can share tools and techniques to help you transform your melody or lyrics into a complete song, or take your song to the next level by turning it into a fully produced composition!

Previous musical training is not required. I'm available for lessons all 7 days of the week. My lessons are for all ages and levels of experience, so feel free to book the free trial lesson!

  • When did you first develop a passion for music and your favorite instrument?

I started piano lessons at age 5! My mother had to convince the local piano teacher to take in such a young student. I was learning how to read music, but in my free time I would just bang around on the piano as little kids do. The banging on the piano turned into writing songs, which nurtured a passion that developed into a career of songwriting and composition.
  • Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

The beautiful thing about music is that it can convey the full range of the emotional spectrum. There's a song or piece of music out there for just about every emotion that a human can feel. I genuinely believe this is true for both popular and classical music genres alike.
  • Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

Understanding music theory. It's a beautiful world to dive head-first into, and one that I'm very excited to explore with my students!
  • What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

Probably the bagpipes. I don't have the lung capacity for those!
  • What are your keys to success?

It's important to remember that practice shouldn't be a painful experience! If you approach practicing piano or songwriting with a more playful attitude, you'll get much better results than if you try to sit down at the piano and play through a song or piece perfectly on the first try. Also, only practicing 5 minutes everyday is better than not practicing at all!
  • Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favorite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

Rachmaninov, Hans Zimmer, and Chris Thile. All masters of their own genre.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

During my sophomore year at the conservatory, I had the opportunity to work with a film director on music for his documentary. I worked for months scoring his scenes. We had an email thread of hundreds of emails going, mostly consisting of me sending my music for a scene and the director replying with his feedback. In the end, we had a full orchestra come in to record the original music. It was such a surreal moment when I heard live musicians playing the music I spent months composing. I'm forever grateful for that experience!
  • What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

I can make learning fun! Especially for those who feel intimidated by playing piano and songwriting. I ensure that my students are progressing AND learning the type of music that they desire to learn. I'm very good at melting away any fears or anxieties that beginners may have.
