About Don

My name is Don VerKuilen. I am the Director of Music and Musical Arts at The historic Old Stone Church of Cleveland on Public Square. I studied at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and has studied in France. I have played concerts all over the USA and Europe. Not only do I play professionally and teach professionally, I am also a published composer. I have had a multitude of students with many going into the music profession as their careers.

I started teaching at a very young age. I am very gifted as a performer but that means nothing to me if I can't share that knowledge with others. Since I have been blessed with this gift I feel called to give back.

I grew up in a family of teachers. Simply by living with one already qualifies most teachers. I have gone to the Oberlin Conservatory and have studied with different teachers all over the world. I have a long list of past students who have gone on to go into music careers. I ran a music school in Little Rock Arkansas that had over 300 students.

Depending on whether or not the student has had lessons before determines my process. When a new student arrives with no music training we start with the basics as well as ordering books etc.

students that have have already had lessons, I have them show me what they can do and I test them to see where their weak spots are so we can focus on quick progress.

I have worked with all types of students. Young or old. Beginners to advanced all the way to college level playing. I am open to teaching anyone who is willing to learn.

Details

All my prices are negotiable for specific family situations. I believe that everyone who wants lessons should get them and if that means taking a bit of a pay cut, I'll do it.

I charge $1.00 / min. So 30 min lessons =$30. 45 min lessons = $45. And 60 min lessons are $60.
