About Joel
I am a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu under Marcelo Garcia. I have been training for 15+ years. I also have trained in Judo, Boxing and Muay Thai and have a 2-0 record in MMA.
I have been teaching classes and private lessons since I was a blue belt. I grew interested in teaching when I realized that many instructors don't teach techniques as they are actually done in live training against resistance. It has always been my goal to teach things as they are really done
I have been training for 15+ years in BJJ and received a black belt from Marcelo Garcia over 4 years ago. I also have some experience training in judo, wrestling, boxing and muay thai. I fought pro in MMA and have a record of 2-0 with both fights being won by submission.

I like to talk to new students about their goals and develop a plan for moving forward based on that. Regardless of their goals, I am a big believer in teaching the fundamentals to beginners.
I have worked with men and women of all ages, experience levels and levels of athleticism. I have limited experience with kids as well.
