About Gema

I´m a native Spanish speaker. Degree in Journalism, Mphil in New Media and Communication and PhD Candidate in New Media and Communication. I relocated to London from Spain 7 years ago in order to finish my PhD (London School of Economics and University of the Basque Country). During the last years, I have combined my studies with working in Primary and Secondary schools as well as teaching Spanish privately.

I do hold a deep knowledge of the Spanish grammar as well as a vast experience in teaching Spanish.
I do strongly believe that learning Spanish and achieving the best grades on this subject is easy, fun and rewarding!!!

I do look for students that really want to learn Spanish and that apart from that would be interested in learning new things about the Spanish culture (literature, arts, politics, etc.) I do always try to make every session new, different and enjoyable way.

About the lesson

I do base my lessons in teaching grammar, combining different written activities with relevant topics related to the Spanish culture (traditions, politics, literature, music, etc.). While doing written activities focused on specific grammar topics I do combine it with giving songs to my students, pieces of literature, news, reports related to relevant topics. Learning a language is not just learning the grammar. To learn a language you also need to learn its origins as well as the culture of that specific country/ countries where that language is spoken. To learn a language implies to develop a passion for the countries and the people where it is spoken! ;-)
