About Marcela

Hola, and welcome! My name is Laura, and I am a native Spanish speaker born in Colombia. I moved to the UK as a child, so I have grown up bilingual and fully immersed in both cultures. This allows me to teach Spanish with natural fluency while also understanding the learning needs of English-speaking students. With 12 years of teaching experience and a background working as a professional interpreter, I bring both linguistic expertise and real-world communication skills to every lesson. Throughout my career, I have helped students of all ages and levels build confidence, improve their pronunciation, strengthen their grammar, and use Spanish effectively in everyday situations. My teaching style is clear, structured, and supportive. I create a comfortable environment where students feel encouraged to speak, ask questions, and learn at their own pace. Whether you are a complete beginner or aiming to reach an advanced level, I tailor each lesson to your goals, learning style, and interests. I take great pride in my work and am committed to providing high-quality, enjoyable, and meaningful lessons. Your success is my priority, and I am here to guide you every step of the way. I look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve your Spanish-learning goals with confidence.

My Approach to Tutoring and How I Teach My Classes I believe that language learning should be engaging, personalised, and practical. My methodology combines communicative language teaching, interactive conversation practice, and structured grammar instruction to help students build confidence and fluency. I adapt my techniques to each learner’s needs, using visual aids, real-life scenarios, games, reading passages, and guided speaking activities to keep lessons dynamic and effective. I also integrate cultural elements so students gain a deeper understanding of Spanish-speaking communities. A typical lesson lasts 50–60 minutes, although I can adjust the duration depending on the student’s goals, schedule, and preferred learning pace. I have 12 years of experience teaching Spanish to a wide range of students, including beginners through advanced learners. My background includes classroom teaching, one-on-one tutoring, and creating customised curricula for students with specific academic or professional goals. I am qualified to support students in grammar, conversation, pronunciation, exam preparation, and general language development. My lessons are suitable for children, teens, and adults, and I teach all levels—from complete beginners to advanced speakers. Whether the student is learning Spanish for school, travel, work, or personal enrichment, I tailor each class to their needs and ensure they progress with confidence.
