About Callum

Hello, I'm Callum, a Finance, Accounting and Management student at the University of Nottingham with a genuine passion for Business, finance and helping students achieve their academic goals.

Business has always been one of my favourite subjects because it connects classroom learning to the real world. Since studying A-Level Business, I have continued to develop my understanding through university study, professional internships and involvement in business-related projects and competitions. This allows me to help students not only understand the specification, but also see how the concepts they learn apply in real organisations and industries.

One thing I have learnt throughout my academic journey is that success is rarely about natural ability alone. Many students have the potential to achieve excellent grades but are held back by a lack of confidence, ineffective revision techniques or uncertainty about what examiners are looking for. I enjoy helping students overcome these barriers by providing clear explanations, structured guidance and practical strategies that build both understanding and confidence.

Alongside my studies, I have gained extensive experience through internships with HSBC and other business-focused organisations, where I have worked on analytical, communication and problem-solving projects. These experiences have strengthened my ability to explain complex ideas clearly and relate academic concepts to real-world situations.

I aim to create a supportive, professional and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and developing their skills. Whether your goal is to improve your confidence, secure a higher predicted grade, prepare for university applications or achieve an A or A*, I would be delighted to help you reach your potential.

I often feel that many students have the potential to go incredibly far, but factors such as low confidence, limited academic guidance, fear of failure or simply not yet seeing the opportunities available to them can sometimes hold them back. Helping students recognise their abilities and develop the skills needed to succeed is one of the most rewarding aspects of tutoring.

About the lesson

My lessons are tailored to each student's individual needs, whether they are aiming to strengthen their understanding of key Business concepts, improve exam technique, build confidence, or achieve the highest grades at A-Level.

Having achieved an A* in A-Level Business and gone on to study Finance, Accounting and Management at the University of Nottingham, I understand both the academic and practical sides of Business. One of the biggest challenges students face is not simply learning content, but understanding how to apply that knowledge effectively in examinations. My lessons focus on developing both subject understanding and the exam skills needed to maximise marks.

Lessons typically last one hour, although longer sessions can be arranged if required. A typical lesson may include reviewing difficult topics, analysing case studies, improving application and evaluation skills, developing essay structure, working through exam-style questions, reviewing mark schemes and building effective revision strategies. Every lesson is adapted to the student's current level, strengths and goals.

Alongside my academic studies, I have gained experience through internships and professional programmes within the business and financial services sectors. These experiences allow me to bring real-world examples into lessons, helping students understand how Business concepts operate beyond the classroom and making the subject more engaging and relevant.

I am currently studying Finance, Accounting and Management at the University of Nottingham, where I achieved an 82% average in my first year and a 79% average in my second year, despite having a major double jaw surgery just 4 weeks before exams, so I know exactly how to assist students who may be going through challenging life events during exam periods. I also achieved 98% in Financial and Management Accounting, 95% in Business Finance and 99% in Business Law, receiving a university prize for the highest mark in the module.

My lessons are suitable for students of all abilities, whether they are looking to improve their confidence, move up a grade boundary or achieve an A or A*.
