I am Zarina, an undergraduate Modern History and Economics student at the University of Manchester. I take advanced mathematics and statistic courses as a part of my studies and previously took A-level mathematics.
My knowledge in maths, therefore, is solid.

I take a relaxed approach to my lessons so that students feel comfortable getting things wrong to begin with and then they can go on and learn from their mistakes.
In a typical 1 hour lesson, I will usually go over one topic from the student's syllabus. Firstly, I make sure they have rules and equations (if they are needed) noted to help them solve any questions on this topic. Then, I will usually go through some example questions with them - explaining the method in simple terms. After this, I will ask my students to work through some exercises with less help and watch over their work to correct them/explain why what they have done is right/wrong. Then, finally, at the end of each session, I will give my students 1-3 practice questions to take home and complete which we will go through at the beginning of the next lesson.
For students coming up to their GCSE exams, I will also go through mock exams with them upon request to go over questions and topics they got wrong and do not understand.
Prior to a student's first lesson, a summary of topics they struggle and do not struggle with is very helpful in targeting gaps in their knowledge.
