About Abigail

My flute studio is a place where adult learners, especially those 20 and older, can explore music in a welcoming, adaptable, and inspiring environment. Whether you’re picking up the flute for the first time or coming back after years away, I will meet you where you are and help you build forward. I teach using a whole-person approach—this means developing good tone, rhythm, and technique while also nurturing musicality, creativity, and personal connection to the instrument. We’ll use real-time audio feedback, tempo-adjustable recordings, and reflection-based exercises to help you progress comfortably and enjoyably. I also include movement, writing, and improvisation in some lessons to deepen engagement and support your learning style. My students often tell me they appreciate the sense of calm and confidence that comes from our sessions—and that’s exactly what I aim for. Whether you want to play in a local group, for your family, or as a personal form of relaxation, I’m here to guide you with patience, clarity, and a true love of music.

My flute lessons are designed around one principle: every student learns differently. That’s why I specialize in adaptable, personalized instruction that works especially well for adults 20+. I take the time to understand your goals—whether it’s playing with your grandkids, joining a community group, or simply learning to relax through music—and build each lesson around what matters to you. My distinctive teaching style blends foundational flute technique with practical innovations like real-time audio feedback, digital learning trackers, and slow-down recordings that let you hear progress at your own speed. I use a multi-sensory approach that includes listening games, movement-based rhythm practice, and even creative writing to help you connect deeply with the music. For students who struggle with confidence or previous bad experiences, I offer a judgment-free space where growth is gradual but lasting. My goal is not just to teach you how to play the flute, but to help you build a lifelong connection to music, joyfully and fearlessly.
