About Alicia
I am a university student with two years of experience studying Sociology with a specialization in Criminology and Socio-legal Studies. I have taken additional courses in psychology, forensic science and micro-economics. I also have half a semester of college completed at St. Lawrence College where I have studied Pre-Service Firefighting education and training. This has equipped me with refresher courses in English and math needed for direct work duties.
My most recent experience in the work field was with the Upper Canada District School Board where I was an unqualified supply teacher and educational assistant. I am familiar with 3 methods of teaching, as well as engaging students of all ages in material. I have a profound experience with special needs children in the school board as well as personal; my younger brother is deaf and autistic equipping me with the communication skills and patience to be successful with a variety of students.

I typically use thematic direction in teaching to engage students in what they are already interested in and connect it to the subject at hand. A typical lesson plan is started by identifying what we will be learning after assessing the topic they are struggling with. I then allow for questions, do some practice work and return to the lesson where I introduce the theme of the lesson to catch interest. I then allow for more questions and practice before advancing the lesson and connecting it to real world application.
My lessons are for students in grade 5-12, who are struggling with English, social sciences, law, civics, leadership, and science.
I also have lessons for grades 5/6 who need mathematics help.
