About Josh

During school, I helped to tutor younger students in English and maths, I would sacrifice my own free time outside of school, and my lunch breaks sitting with students to help them overcome problems in their coursework and subjects they found difficult to understand. I also did pieces for the school paper and had several experiences with writing adverts for small businesses. I'm particularly good at expressive writing and teaching skills and techniques used in coursework and essays.

About the lesson

I prefer to work with my pupils to help them discover their own personal style of writing. As a team, we would aim to work through each area of their GCSE coursework and improve them to reach that high grade.

The lessons will consist of helping to understand the kind of expectations a student would expect to hit and exceed in order to get higher grades. This would mean having discussions about current coursework, how to improve it and tackling those tricky essay questions in an exam.

On the other hand, English should not be a boring subject, so I try to interact with my students in a fun way to help them learn and gain more of an interest in the subject. I believe every student should believe in what they are studying, and I aim to help them do so.

Personally, I believe that if a student has not gained something out of my lesson I have not done my job properly. being a little bit of a perfectionist, I always strive to make sure I do my job to the highest standard I can and allow students to get the most out of their time and money. My highest priority is for students to achieve the highest possible grade, but most importantly? To inspire students to be creative and show their individuality, so that one day the skills they learn from me can be used to tackle even greater life goals.
