About Nishtha

I am currently working as a management consultant at a development consultancy. I studied B. Com in India's premier commerce college. With a 98% in Grade 12th (99/100 in Mathematics) and a 10 CGPA in class 10, I fell in love with teaching when I started as a peer tutor over 8 years ago. I have been giving private tuition for over 5 years now and I wish to multiply my impact.

I want to make everyone fall in love with math instead of growing up hating it. Instead of memorizing formulas, my students spend time focusing on the creation and real-life utilization of those formulas. I like to bring the world to the class by focusing on the application of concepts taught in class.

My tutoring fees are customized based on the student's grade level, subject matter, and additional requests or requirements. I offer personalized teaching sessions tailored to each student's unique learning pace and needs. My hourly fee ranges from INR 1500 to 2500, depending on the factors above. I also provide discounted rates for students who book multiple sessions or refer their peers. My first session is a demo-cum-analysis session through which I can create a guide map tailored to the student, and help in deciding if my pedagogy is a fit. • Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

I’ve always loved Mathematics for the way it sharpens logical thinking and problem-solving skills. Scoring 99/100 in Mathematics in Grade 12 and a 10 CGPA in Class 10 gave me a strong foundation, but my real interest grew when I started peer tutoring over 8 years ago. Over time, I realized that many students struggle because math is often taught mechanically. That’s when I developed my own concept-driven approach, helping students understand the “why” behind formulas instead of just memorizing them.
  • What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

My motivation comes from my own experience as a student. I’ve seen bright students lose confidence simply because math felt intimidating. When I started teaching my peers, I realized that the right guidance can transform fear into curiosity. Every time I see a student shift from “I can’t do this” to “This is actually fun!”, it reinforces why I teach — to help students fall in love with learning and see math as a tool, not a hurdle!
  • How does your work help society?

I firmly beleive Math is not just about numbers — it teaches critical thinking, logical reasoning, and problem-solving, all of which are life skills. Through my work, I help students build confidence and independence in approaching challenges. I focus on real-world applications of concepts, so students understand how what they learn in class connects to everyday life. Over time, this creates individuals who are better equipped to analyze, innovate, and make informed decisions, which contributes to society as a whole.
  • If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

Richard Feynman is someone I find truly inspiring because of his philosophy: “If you can’t explain something simply, you don’t understand it well enough.” His teaching style was rooted in curiosity and clarity, which mirrors my own approach. I aim to break complex mathematical concepts into simple, intuitive ideas so students not only understand but also enjoy learning.
  • Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

Outside teaching, I enjoy Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which keeps me active and helps me stay disciplined and focused. I also love reading fiction novels — they let me explore different worlds and perspectives, which often inspires creativity in my teaching. And whenever I can, I love traveling and discovering offbeat destinations — exploring new cultures, hidden gems, and unique experiences is something I find truly refreshing.
  • Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

Back in Grade 8, I used to struggle with mensuration until my Maths teacher explained it in a completely different way — by visualizing 3D shapes through their nets. That one class completely changed my perspective on Maths. It showed me that understanding comes from seeing concepts differently, not just memorizing formulas. That experience stayed with me and heavily influences my teaching today — I always try to make learning visual, intuitive, and relatable so my students experience the same shift in mindset that I once did.
