About Maria

I approached yoga during a trip to India and I was fascinated by it. Subsequent trips to India allowed me to get closer to the discipline and to increase my interest in it, and, subsequently, to undertake a Teacher Training in Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa flow Yoga and Ashtanga Yoga in Rishikesh, India, at Vinyasa Yoga Ashram receiving Yoga Alliance 200H Certification (RYT-200). Then, I integrated my learning path in the city of Rishikesh at the Himalayan Yoga Association and obtained the Yoga Alliance 300H Certification (RYT-300). This formative period allowed me to undertake an important personal growth propaedeutic to the deepening of the different levels that define the discipline in its most authentic form and to assume a clear awareness of its correct perception, to be understood as an individual development path (a path composed of ups and downs, of love and passion, of devotion and perseverance, of effort and acceptance). My practice and teaching involve the application and transmission of these concepts, starting from the practice of asanas, seen as a moving meditation. The creation of a fluid and continuous flow (modulated on the basis of the needs and characteristics of the students) performed in coordination with the breath makes it possible to focus attention on the present moment, to calm the flow of thoughts, increase concentration, clarify the mind and achieve serenity and self-fulfillment.

According to the principle of Vinyasa, every movement of the body is associated with a respiratory act. The body flows dynamically from one position (Asana) to the other in synchrony with the breath, which becomes longer, deeper and more regular. The creation of this fluid and continuous flow, performed in coordination with the breath, allows us to focus our attention on the present moment, to calm the flow of thoughts, increase concentration, clarify the mind and achieve serenity and self-fulfillment.
The regular practice gives stability to the mind that comes into play to find a conscious link between movement and breath and well-being of the body that is revitalized by acquiring greater strength, balance and flexibility.
The class is generally subdivided into an initial part aimed at the gradual awakening of the body: starting from breathing, it continues with light articular movements and warming positions of the main muscle groups involved during the practice.
The Sun Salutations' series completes the warming by giving strength and energy to the mind and body.
The Sun Salutations in particular prepare and warm up legs and also for the next sequence, that of standing positions, in gradual progression from easier asana to more advanced. The standing positions give strength and flexibility to the whole body and prepare it effectively for subsequent backward bending (lengthening of the frontal part of the body with the support of the back muscles), torsions (intense stretching of the muscular structures of the back giving fluidity in the movements of the spine) and forward bending (lengthening of the muscles of the back and of the entire back of the body).
Followed by the inversions, which are aimed at facilitating blood circulation in the upper part of the body going to lengthen and strengthen this portion of the body.
The closing positions complete the sequence: the body gradually relaxes, the mind calms down, heaviness and a sense of abandonment are perceived, preparatory to absorbing the benefits of the practice.

- Calm mind and body: the constant cycle of inspiration and expiration associated with movement helps to calm the mind and body, to increase concentration, to make people aware of their posture and their breath, to perceive the present moment, the here and now.
- Increases energy and reduces fatigue.
- Increases muscle and joint strength.
- Purifies the body: the fluid and dynamic flow of movements from one position to another generate heat and energy within the body, stimulating the elimination of toxins through perspiration, thus helping to purify the body.
- Improves flexibility and balance.
- Leads to a path of knowledge and inner growth.
