  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I developed my interest in private tutoring since 2017 while I am studying Math really well at University.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I enjoy discussing topics like algebra, calculus, geometry, statistics, and probability with students. These areas provide essential foundations for real-world problem-solving and applications. I'm enthusiastic about making math engaging and accessible to students. While I appreciate all mathematical topics, some students may find abstract concepts more challenging. Still, I believe that with the right guidance, even these topics can become more intriguing and manageable.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Yes, my course coordinator and project coordinator both inspired me to be a patient, knowledgeable and responsible teacher.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

Qualities required to be a good tutor include subject knowledge, patience, effective communication, adaptability, empathy, encouragement, organization, flexibility, passion for teaching, and confidence in their abilities.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

I once tutored a high school student who was having a tough time with geometry. They couldn't quite grasp the concept of congruent triangles and how to prove them. After several sessions of patient explanation and practice, we used a creative analogy involving matching puzzle pieces. The student suddenly lit up and exclaimed, "Triangles are like puzzle pieces that fit perfectly when they're congruent!" That "aha" moment marked a turning point in their understanding, and they went on to excel in geometry, even becoming a math club champion. This anecdote highlights how finding the right analogy or approach can make a significant difference in helping students master challenging math concepts.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or are still facing in your subject?

In my early days as a math tutor, I encountered a student who had a severe fear of fractions. They would panic when faced with even simple fractions and couldn't complete their homework. To address this, I used visual aids like pie charts and colorful diagrams to illustrate fractions in a fun and engaging way. We also practiced real-life scenarios, like splitting pizza slices. Over time, the student's confidence improved, and they no longer dreaded fractions. This experience taught me the importance of creative teaching methods and the impact of building a student's confidence in overcoming math challenges.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

It brought me lots of senses of accomplishment once students progressed! Teaching English differs from teaching Math due to variations in subject matter, methods, and objectives. English instruction focuses on language, literature, and communication, promoting creativity and interpretation. Math education centers on numbers, patterns, and logical reasoning, emphasizing precision and clear solutions. Assessment methods also vary, with English often involving subjective evaluation and Math relying on objective problem-solving. Additionally, cultural and language differences can impact English teaching, while Math is generally more universally understood. Tailoring teaching approaches to these distinctions is crucial for effective education in each subject.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions)?

I have access to extensive mathematical knowledge, making me a valuable source of information and explanations on various math topics. I provide consistent, accurate responses without being influenced by mood or fatigue, ensuring reliability in math-related assistance. Also, I can provide assistance on a wide range of math topics, adapting to different learning needs and catering to various levels of expertise.
