About Jazz

I am a highly qualified and experienced Mathematics educator with over 10 years of teaching experience across New South Wales and overseas. I hold a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in Mathematics, a Bachelor of Education, a Master of English Literature, and a Master of Secondary Teaching from Western Sydney University.

I am currently a proficient permanent Mathematics teacher at a NSW public school, where I have taught for over five years. In addition, I serve as a Stage 5 Mathematics Coordinator and have specialized training in supporting students to improve their HSC Mathematics Standard results, particularly those aiming to progress from Band 5 to Band 6 achievement levels.

Alongside my classroom teaching experience, I have over two years of private tutoring experience with primary and secondary students. I have also worked extensively with students requiring additional support through after-school homework and learning support programs, helping them build confidence, close learning gaps, and develop strong mathematical foundations.

My passion is making Mathematics accessible, engaging, and achievable for every student. Through personalized instruction, clear explanations, and a supportive learning environment, I help students strengthen their understanding, improve their performance, and reach their academic goals.

About the lesson

My lessons are structured using the gradual release model: I Do, We Do, You Do. Firstly I teach the concepts explicitly, then guide students through worked examples before moving to independent problem-solving. Lessons are differentiated to individual learning needs and aligned with the NSW NESA Mathematics syllabus.

I use diagnostic assessment to identify and address knowledge gaps, linking prior learning to new concepts for deeper understanding.

Structured homework, regular feedback, and a clear learning sequence ensure students build confidence, mastery, and long-term success in Mathematics.
