About Colette

I am a qualified science teacher with 12 years of experience teaching across KS3, GCSE (all sciences), A-level Physics and Molecular Biology at Degree level.

I specialise in helping students improve the quality of their answers, with a strong focus on exam technique, clear explanations, and structured thinking. My approach is calm, supportive and focused on making steady, meaningful progress.

I am reliable, well-prepared and professional, and I aim to create a focused environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing confidence in their abilities.

About the lesson

Teaching Approach & Methodology

My approach focuses on improving the quality of students’ answers, not just understanding content. I identify gaps in understanding quickly, explain concepts clearly, give direct, practical feedback, and show students how to structure strong exam responses. There is a strong emphasis on exam technique, as this is often what separates average from high grades. Sessions are focused and efficient, helping students make clear progress without feeling overwhelmed.

Lesson Structure & Length

Sessions are 45 minutes. Before each session, I will usually ask what you would like to focus on so we can use the time effectively. A typical session includes a brief review of current work, clear explanation of key concepts, targeted feedback on answers, and practical guidance on how to improve.

Qualifications & Experience

I am a qualified science teacher with 12 years of experience. I have taught KS3, GCSE (all sciences), A-level Physics, and supported students at degree level. My particular strengths are explaining complex scientific ideas clearly and helping students improve their written answers.
