About Tula
Hi, I’m a passionate violin tutor with over 10 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music in Orchestral Studies (Violin). My teaching blends classical technique with the creative tools of modern music-making. I use slow-down apps, MIDI notation, DAWs, and video feedback to help students analyze and improve their playing with precision. These tools allow us to break down complex passages, track progress, and build confidence step by step. I specialize in genres like Jazz Violin, Rock Strings, and Indie Folk. Whether you're learning to groove over a chord progression or shape a haunting melody, I’ll guide you with energy and insight. Improvisation is one of my core strengths—I love helping students discover their voice through spontaneous music-making. I also create custom backing tracks, so students can practice in a fun, real-world context that boosts both timing and musicality. My lessons are flexible, supportive, and designed to bring out your unique style. I work with learners of all levels, helping them grow not just as violinists but as complete musicians. My violin teaching approach is built on a strong foundation of goal-setting, structured practice, and performance readiness. I believe every student thrives with clear direction, so we set short-term and long-term goals tailored to each learner’s interests and ambitions. Lessons include daily warm-ups that develop tone, intonation, and finger agility, followed by targeted technical etudes to build precision and control.
Expressive phrasing is woven into every piece we work on, helping students connect emotionally with the music. I guide students in exploring dynamics, articulation, and musical storytelling, ensuring their playing is not just accurate but deeply engaging. We also focus on stage presence and confidence, preparing students for the unique energy of performing.
For those preparing for recitals, auditions, or ensemble work, I offer step-by-step planning, mock performances, and strategies to manage nerves. I understand that some students need structure, while others flourish with creativity and emotional expression. My teaching adapts to both, combining discipline with encouragement, and technique with artistry.
