About Teri

I am passionate about inspiring children to overcome the challenges and difficulties they are experiencing in their school work, by taking an innovative and holistic approach to develop their confidence and self belief. I have many years experience working with children who have learning difficulties due to dyslexia/dyscalculia.

Another of my passions is for creative writing. Alongside my work as a psychologist and tutor, I also work as a professional writer and author of children's books. My innovative tutoring approach has enabled many of my students, who had become petrified at the thought of essay writing, to blossom into talented writers who no longer feared the written word. Some of these students have gone on to win writing competitions and gain high grades at GCSE level.

I bring with me a wealth of experience in the field of education from the early years to GCSE. This has included setting up and running my own schools and tutoring organisation. I have worked with children from many parts of the world, including those with limited English Language skills.

My experience also includes working with children with learning difficulties - particularly those with Dyslexia, Dyscalculia and other types of information processing difficulties. Those dyslexic students out there may be reassured to learn that I too am also slightly dyslexic, as was my daughter - which didn't stop either of us wonderful people from going to university and achieving highly successful careers. So welcome to the Dyslexia club - we're about 10% of any given population and part of a line of many other successful dyslexics such as Richard Bronson, Albert Einstein, Stephen Hawking, Leonardo da Vinci and Walt Disney.

I believe that tutoring should be about helping students to reconnect with the love of learning they had when they were very little - before the joy of learning started to become a chore or a burden due to the pressures of the education system. Re-kindling that love of learning is what I am about.

About the lesson

As a experienced developmental pychologist I take an innovative and holistic approach to creating an individually tailored tutoring programme to maximise the potential of each child.

My expertise is for: Primary level English and Maths and GCSE English + Dyslexia/ Discalculia.
