About Olivia

I am a guitar teacher with 12 years of experience in band coaching and ensemble leadership. I hold a Bachelor of Music Education with a focus on guitar, which has given me strong foundations in both performance and teaching. My passion lies in guiding students to thrive in collaborative playing settings, whether it’s in bands, ensembles, or group projects. I help students arrange covers and write original songs, encouraging creativity and teamwork. My lessons go beyond just individual technique — I focus on how to blend your guitar skills with others to create a powerful group sound. I also support students who want to start their own bands, organise live performances, or record demos in the studio. With my guidance, you’ll learn important skills like communication, stage presence, and musical arrangement, all vital for successful group playing. I tailor my teaching to each student’s goals, whether they aim to perform live, compose, or simply enjoy playing with others. About the lesson

My teaching approach focuses on helping each student grow as a confident and skilled guitar player. I combine personalised instruction with practical tools like digital audio workstations (DAWs), amp simulators, and metronome apps to make learning engaging and effective. We work on ear training to develop your musical listening skills, which is essential for playing by ear and improvising. Performance coaching is a key part of my lessons, where I help you prepare for live playing and build stage confidence. Music theory is also included to give you a solid foundation, making it easier to understand songs and create your own music. Whether you’re into exploring jazz styles or pushing the boundaries with rock and alternative sounds, I tailor lessons to match your interests and goals. I support students in mastering complex rhythms and chord progressions step by step, making sure they feel challenged but not overwhelmed. Using apps and tech tools, we track progress and keep practice fun and organised. My method encourages steady growth through regular practice and active listening. Together, we focus on building skills that allow you to express yourself freely and enjoy playing guitar in any style you love.
