About Maya

Hi! I’m a singing tutor with over 6 years of experience and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Vocal Studies. I love helping students bring their voices to life, whether for hobby singing or aspiring recording careers. My lessons focus on genres like R&B, Soul, Acoustic Pop, and Contemporary Christian. I guide students in tone shaping, lyric interpretation, harmonies, and phrasing to create expressive, authentic performances. I incorporate modern technology into my teaching, including DAWs, vocal processors, and studio microphones, helping students prepare for studio recording and songwriting. Lessons are interactive and tailored to each student’s goals, combining practical exercises with creative exploration. We work on performance techniques, vocal health, and studio-ready skills, ensuring progress is both measurable and enjoyable. I encourage experimentation, expression, and confidence-building in every session. About the lesson

My teaching approach focuses on building confidence, improving pitch accuracy, and enhancing vocal expression. I tailor techniques to each student’s unique voice and musical background. For The Fiddler, we emphasise integrating instrumental sensitivity with vocal control. For The Music Major, we focus on precision, musicality, and expressive performance. Breathing exercises and vocal health routines are central to every session, helping students sustain notes, improve tone, and prevent strain. We use interactive tools such as ear training apps, metronomes, and recording devices to track progress and identify areas for improvement. Lessons combine technical exercises with performance practice, allowing students to experiment safely and grow their vocal range. I encourage regular practice, reflection, and mindful listening to cultivate awareness and musical intuition. Step by step, students gain control, confidence, and a stronger connection to their voice. Every session is designed to inspire growth, foster creativity, and make learning both practical and enjoyable.
