About Tymon

Hi! I’m currently in Year 13 studying Maths, Physics and History at A Level. I’ve always liked helping friends and other students when they’re stuck on something, especially when explaining something in a different way can make it much easier to understand. That’s one of the main reasons I wanted to start tutoring.

For my GCSEs, I got a 9 in Maths, History and DT, an 8 in Physics, two 8s in English, a 7 in Business and two 7s in Chemistry and Biology. Maths is my main subject for tutoring, but I’m also happy to help with most other GCSE subjects.

At A Level, I achieved straight As in all three subjects at AS, which were the highest grades I could achieve at that level. I’m currently predicted A* in Maths and As in Physics and History. I’m working towards these grades now, so I’m very familiar with the current A Level and GCSE workload and the kind of revision and exam practice that is needed.

Something I’m particularly proud of is my French grade. French was probably my weakest subject and I struggled with it for years. It was only in the last few months before my GCSE exam that I finally figured out how I needed to revise it. Once I found a method that worked for me, I went from a 3 to a 6. I think that experience is useful when tutoring because I know what it’s like to feel like you’re just not good at a subject, when sometimes you just haven’t found the right way of learning it yet.

I want my lessons to be relaxed and friendly, and I don’t want students to feel awkward about asking questions if they don’t understand something. I’ll try to explain things in different ways until it clicks, and I can also help with revision and exam technique. Since I’m still in school myself, I understand the pressure of exams and what students are going through, and I’d really like to help make things a bit easier for them.

About the lesson

I’m a Year 13 student, so I understand what it’s like to be preparing for exams and sometimes struggle with certain topics. My approach is to make tutoring relaxed and easy to understand, rather than making students feel pressured. I’ll take the time to explain things clearly and find different ways of teaching if something doesn’t make sense the first time. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, as I think that’s an important part of learning. I’ll also adapt my lessons depending on the student and what they need help with, whether that’s understanding a difficult topic, practising exam questions or improving their confidence. My main goal is to help students feel more confident in their ability while making sure they actually understand what they’re learning.
