About Sage

I’m a high school English teacher with 15 years of experience and a passion for reading, writing, and the outdoors. I’ve taught students in Japan, France, Massachusetts, Vermont, Colorado, and Utah, which has given me the opportunity to work with learners from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures, and ability levels.

I pride myself on connecting with students as individuals and creating a supportive, encouraging environment where they can build confidence and strengthen their skills. Whether you’re preparing for the SAT or ACT, working on an essay, or simply hoping to become a stronger reader and writer, I’ll meet you where you are and help you move forward.

About the lesson

My approach is practical, supportive, and tailored to each student. For SAT and ACT prep, I teach students how to recognize common question types, strengthen grammar and reading-comprehension skills, manage time effectively, and use strategies that make standardized-test questions more manageable. We also review practice questions closely so students understand not only the correct answer, but why the other choices are wrong.

A typical session may include targeted skill instruction, timed practice, review of missed questions, and strategies for improving accuracy and efficiency. For writing students, sessions can focus on thesis development, organization, evidence, analysis, sentence-level clarity, revision, and editing.

As a high school English teacher, I bring extensive experience teaching reading, writing, grammar, and literary analysis. I especially enjoy helping students build confidence and develop strategies they can use independently.

Lessons are ideal for middle and high school students preparing for the SAT or ACT, as well as high school and college students seeking help with essays, research papers, literary analysis, or general writing skills.
