About Emily
I am an undergraduate student at Yale University. I have 4 years of public speaking experience from competing at Speech & Debate tournaments all throughout high school; I was first place at multiple New York City regional tournaments, a semi-finalist at the New York State level, and a finalist at the national level. I have 2 years of teaching and tutoring experience when it comes to creative writing, academic English, English language skills, and public speaking. Most recently, I taught a 10-week course on public speaking over Zoom to a group of five students. By the end of the course, all five students were much more confident, self-assured speakers who had written, memorized, and delivered their own original oratories in front of an audience.

I have mostly taught younger students, from ages 8-11. However, because I was a mentor on my high school's Speech & Debate team, I also have experience working with and helping teenagers and older students. I base my lessons on showing compassion, enthusiasm, and support for all students, and strive to make my learning environment a welcome one to help students become more comfortable with the act of public speaking. I also integrate constructive feedback into all of my lessons and ask students to give each other feedback so that they can learn from and grow with their peers as well.
