About Arlo

With over 8 years of experience teaching guitar both in-person and online, I bring a supportive and creative approach to every lesson. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance with a focus on Contemporary Styles, and I specialize in helping students explore the guitar as a tool for original music creation. My teaching philosophy centers on developing your unique musical voice through compositional techniques and arranging for guitar. Whether you're just starting out or already performing at a professional level, I tailor each lesson to match your goals. We’ll explore harmonic concepts, melodic invention, and even delve into the beauty of counterpoint. I enjoy guiding students in writing their own music and recording simple demo tracks that bring their ideas to life. From fingerstyle arrangements to modern songwriting, each session is structured to build both confidence and creativity. I’ve had the privilege of working with a wide range of students—from Beginners to Advanced musicians and aspiring composers. Every learner brings something unique, and I work to nurture that spark through thoughtful, hands-on guidance. About the lesson

My guitar teaching approach blends practical playing with a clear understanding of music theory. I believe theory should never feel abstract or confusing. That’s why I focus on showing how scales, modes, and chords come to life right on the fretboard. Whether it’s building a solo or crafting your own chord progression, we’ll use real music examples to make learning stick. I help students connect theory with the music they actually want to play.

You’ll learn how to construct chords, analyze harmony, and use modes creatively step by step. I specialize in working with both The Aspiring Rock Star and The Classical Purist. For each, I customize lessons that match their musical goals and styles. I guide students in turning technical knowledge into expressive performance. My sessions include ear training, fretboard navigation, and exercises for improvisation and composition.

No matter your current level, I’m here to support your growth with clear, encouraging instruction. We’ll build a solid musical foundation you can always rely on.
