About Silas

Hi! I'm a passionate violin tutor with over 10 years of teaching experience and a Diploma in Classical Violin. While my roots are in classical music, my heart beats for crossover styles like Jazz, Rock, Hip-Hop Strings, and World Music. I love blending traditions and pushing boundaries with the violin. In my lessons, I focus not just on technique, but also on creativity and exploration. I often use improvisation to help students find their own voice on the instrument. We experiment with tone, rhythm, and texture to create exciting, fresh sounds. I also introduce students to looping pedals and other tools that open up new possibilities in solo and group playing. I guide students in writing their own solos and adapting popular songs they love. We learn how to break music apart, rebuild it, and make it personal. Whether you're interested in crafting beats with your strings or creating emotional soundscapes, I can help you get there. My sessions are lively, engaging, and tailored to individual goals and styles. The violin is more than tradition—it’s a world of sound waiting to be explored. About the lesson

My teaching approach is built on helping students not just play the violin, but truly connect with music. I guide learners from the basics of posture and bowing to advanced techniques with patience and clarity. My lessons are designed to build strong technical skills while encouraging creativity and personal expression. I include ear training exercises to sharpen musical listening, which is essential for playing in tune and with emotion.

For students interested in live performance, I help build confidence through stage presence training and regular performance practice. I also work on rhythm, sight-reading, and improvisation to make students more versatile. Whether a student dreams of performing in a theatre or leading music in a community space, I support them in finding their unique voice through the violin.

We focus on tone production, phrasing, and storytelling in music. I encourage students to feel the emotion behind each note and to express it clearly. I also teach basic music theory to support better understanding and independence. Lessons are always adapted to each student’s goals, whether they're preparing for exams or simply playing for joy. With more than 10 years of experience, I am committed to making every student feel inspired and capable.
