About Zoey

I am a violin tutor with over five years of teaching experience and hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Historical Performance with a focus on Baroque Violin. My passion lies in introducing young children to the joy of music through playful and age-appropriate strategies. I place a strong emphasis on ear training and aural skills, as I believe that a good musical ear is the foundation of confident playing. In lessons, I use storytelling to spark imagination and connect music to familiar experiences. Rhythm games and movement activities help children internalise timing and coordination naturally. I also use simple melodies to build technique step by step while keeping learning approachable. I draw inspiration from Suzuki and Kodály methods, adapting them to each child’s needs. These approaches support children in learning by listening, singing, and engaging actively. My lessons are designed to make children feel comfortable and excited about exploring sound. I enjoy celebrating small successes and building confidence along the way. With patience and creativity, I nurture both musical skill and curiosity. The violin becomes more than just an instrument—it becomes a playful companion in discovery. I warmly welcome young learners to join me in making violin study fun, imaginative, and full of joy.

About the lesson

My teaching approach for violin goes beyond playing—it also covers how to take care of the instrument itself. I believe that knowing how to handle, clean, and maintain a violin is just as important as learning technique. Students are guided step by step through proper handling practices, including posture and storage. I explain how to clean the instrument safely and prevent damage. We also cover string changing, an essential skill for any violinist. I show how to recognise when strings are worn out and demonstrate how to replace them confidently. Troubleshooting is another part of my lessons, so students learn to identify common issues like slipping pegs or buzzing sounds. This practical knowledge helps them feel secure in caring for their violin. I’m very good with The Content Creator and The Shower Singer, and I give them strategies to keep their instrument performance-ready. I make sure every student feels capable of maintaining their violin on their own. Lessons are clear, practical, and supportive. You won’t just learn how to play—you’ll learn how to protect and care for your violin. With this approach, the instrument becomes a reliable partner in your music journey.
