About Cassian
I’m a piano tutor with 7 years of dedicated teaching experience and a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Piano Performance. My specialty lies in guiding students who are preparing for elite conservatory-level jazz programs such as Berklee, Juilliard, and others. I’m deeply passionate about helping each student unlock their creative voice while mastering advanced jazz techniques. Improvisation, harmonic knowledge, and stylistic fluency are central to my lessons. I focus on refining touch, time feel, and phrasing to meet professional standards. Whether we’re working on complex voicings, transcription, or solo development, I aim to challenge and inspire. My approach blends the technical and the expressive. My teaching approach focuses on making students fluent and confident music readers at the piano. I use a clear, step-by-step method that builds strong visual-to-finger coordination. Sight-reading exercises are a regular part of every lesson. We work on quickly identifying intervals, recognizing common patterns, and understanding how music is built on the staff.
