About Dorian

I’m a violin tutor with over 8 years of experience and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Violin Performance. I love working with young children, using playful and age-appropriate strategies to make learning enjoyable. My lessons often include storytelling, rhythm games, and movement to help kids connect with the music in fun ways. I also use simple melodies that build both technique and musicianship step by step. I draw inspiration from Suzuki and Kodály methods, which focus on listening, repetition, and a nurturing learning environment. These approaches help children develop strong foundations while keeping their natural curiosity alive. I believe every child learns best when they feel safe and excited about making music. My goal is to create a cheerful and imaginative space where violin learning is full of joy. Together, we explore sound and expression, building skills one note at a time. I’m passionate about helping young players discover the magic of the violin and develop a lifelong love for music.

About the lesson

My violin teaching approach centres on curiosity and self-guided discovery. I encourage students to explore sound and experiment with different ways of playing. Through musical games and improvisation exercises, learners develop a deeper connection to the music and their instrument. This playful method keeps lessons fresh and engaging while building strong listening skills and ear–eye coordination. I focus on important technical topics like open string resonance and fingerboard mapping, helping students understand the instrument inside and out. These elements provide a foundation that supports both confident technique and creative freedom. Whether a student enjoys discovering on their own or prefers structured guidance, I adapt lessons to fit their style and goals. I especially enjoy working with learners who value emotional expression and creativity in their playing. Together, we explore ways to bring music to life through tone, phrasing, and personal interpretation. My goal is to nurture both technical skill and artistic voice, making every lesson an exciting step toward becoming a well-rounded violinist.
