My teaching methodology involves first making the student understand why we are learning such thing, then explaining each part and theorical component in order to let him/her familiarise with what we are reading and what the problem is asking to us.
I also believe in practicing step by step with more difficult exercises, inviting the student to say out loud what should be done and why to solve the exercise.
