About Azra

Hi! My name is Azra, and I am an Applied Mathematics student at Western University entering my second year of study.

I have developed leadership and communication skills through both teaching and student leadership roles. I previously served as a Junior Representative for Women in Mathematics, and I currently hold the position of Finance Director. In addition, I have experience working with young students as a summer camp counselor, where I built strong skills in explaining concepts clearly, adapting to different learning styles, and creating a supportive learning environment.

I understand that mathematics can feel challenging at times, but I strongly believe that every student can succeed with the right guidance and approach. As someone who has recently completed high school mathematics and is currently studying advanced math at the university level, I can relate to the challenges students face and offer practical strategies that helped me succeed.

My teaching approach focuses on building deep understanding rather than memorization. I aim to make concepts clear, structured, and approachable, while encouraging students to ask questions and engage actively with the material. I also tailor my lessons to each student’s individual needs, whether they are looking to improve grades, prepare for exams, strengthen foundational understanding, or build long-term confidence in math.

I look forward to helping students grow not only in their mathematical ability, but also in their confidence as learners.

About the lesson

Hi! My name is Azra, and I am an Applied Mathematics student at Western University entering my second year. I achieved a 99% average in high school calculus and earned strong grades in my university mathematics courses. I am passionate about helping students build confidence and succeed in math.

My teaching approach focuses on understanding concepts rather than memorizing procedures. I believe that once students understand why a method works, they are much better equipped to solve challenging problems independently. I adapt my lessons to each student's learning style and pace, ensuring they feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes throughout the learning process.

A typical lesson begins with a review of previous material and any questions the student may have. We then work through new concepts step-by-step, followed by guided practice and problem-solving. I also provide strategies for approaching tests, managing time, and avoiding common mistakes. My goal is to help students not only improve their grades but also develop strong mathematical thinking skills.

What sets me apart is that I recently completed the courses many students are currently taking, allowing me to explain concepts in a relatable and accessible way. As a university mathematics student, I combine strong academic knowledge with patience, encouragement, and a genuine commitment to student success.

My lessons are ideal for elementary school students, middle school students, high school students taking mathematics courses such as Functions, Advanced Functions, and Calculus, as well as first-year university students seeking support in introductory mathematics courses.
