About Duncan

An established performer and highly qualified Singing Teacher based in London. I have performed professionally in London and in venues across the UK, seamlessly combining a busy performance schedule with over a decade of dedicated teaching and coaching.

I am an Estill International Certified Voice Trainer (EFP), currently advancing toward my Estill Master Trainer (EMT) qualification with some of the UK's top practitioners in vocal coaching. I currently teach at the prestigious Italia Conti and have previously held posts at renowned institutions, including The BRIT School, London Studio Centre, and various secondary and primary schools.

My foundation is built upon rigorous training, including an MA in Musical Theatre from The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, a BA in Music from the University of Sussex, and early studies in Classical Singing/Opera at the Royal Academy of Music.

Living and working in the international heart of theatre and music is a privilege I wish to share. I find immense joy in passing on practical, current industry knowledge to help performers not just train, but thrive professionally.

About the lesson

I like to tailor my approach to your specific needs. Whether you are wanting help with an audition or just looking to develop the confidence to sing in front of your friends and family, I'm here to help!

Having trained as an actor, singer and musician, in Musical Theatre, classical, jazz, rock and pop styles, I can offer a wide range of techniques to help you feel confident singing pretty much anything.

I am certified in the Estill model. A style of vocal training that aims to demystify the function of the voice as a whole. In my lessons I use practical exercises to help isolate and develop control over the individual parts of the larynx and the muscles that support it. By focusing on the basic craft first, then encouraging a bit of your own personal flair and artistry, my aim is to help you gain full confidence in your voice and set you on the path of becoming the performer you have always hoped to be!

John was a delight to teach! A very capable and willing student. He practised between lessons and made some excellent improvements during our time together. His own strong musical background made it easy to jump in at a high level, with a challenging but rewarding repertoire. He's also a really nice guy, we got on well and he always offered me tea and water on arrival! *****
