About Roxanne Stacey

Hello, and welcome to The English Lounge with Roxy!

My name is Roxy, and I'm so happy you're here.

Teaching has always been much more than a job to me—it's something I'm genuinely passionate about. I believe learning English isn't just about memorising grammar rules or expanding your vocabulary. It's about building confidence, creating opportunities, connecting with people from different cultures and, most importantly, finding your own voice.

My journey began with teaching English to high school learners, where I spent three years helping students improve their language skills and grow in confidence. During that time, I noticed something that stayed with me. Many learners weren't only struggling with English—they were struggling to express their thoughts, emotions and experiences because they simply didn't have the confidence or language to do so.

Alongside teaching, I completed a Higher Certificate in HIV/AIDS Counselling and Management, where I studied counselling, communication and emotional support. I also had the opportunity to serve as a lay counsellor at my high school, providing emotional support, encouragement and a listening ear to learners who needed someone to talk to. While I am not a psychologist or licensed counsellor, those experiences taught me the importance of empathy, patience and creating a space where people feel safe to communicate openly.

Those experiences inspired me to create The English Lounge with Roxy.

I wanted to create something different from a traditional classroom—a place where people feel relaxed, welcomed and encouraged from the moment they arrive. A place where making mistakes isn't something to fear but something to celebrate because every mistake is another step towards confidence.

When I'm not teaching, you'll usually find me spending time with my family, enjoying a good cup of coffee, travelling whenever I have the opportunity, or spending time with my cats. I love meeting people from different cultures, hearing their stories and learning about the world through meaningful conversations.

If you're looking for a patient, friendly and encouraging teacher who genuinely cares about your progress, I'd love to be part of your English journey.

Welcome to The English Lounge with Roxy—a warm, welcoming online space where learning English feels as comfortable as sitting in your favourite coffee shop.

My lessons are designed for children and adults of all English levels, from complete beginners to advanced speakers who want to build confidence and communicate naturally in English. Every lesson is personalised to suit your goals, learning style and pace because I believe everyone learns differently.
