About Ash

As a seasoned professional with a strong foundation in tech, cybersecurity, and data analysis, I bring a wealth of practical experience to my lessons. I am highly proficient in a range of devices, operating systems, and software applications. My track record of educating internal and external stakeholders within the workplace on modern technology makes me an excellent guide for beginner and intermediate clients seeking to upgrade their tech skills. Additionally, as the Training and Analytics Lead in my previous role, I have extensive experience in tailoring training modules to meet individual needs. With over 10 years of experience in client relations, I bring to my sessions a keen sense of adaptability, critical thinking, and active listening that allows effective collaboration with individuals at all levels. From providing intuitive and adaptive guidance to senior executives, to leading and educating my peers with an approach of empathy and empowerment, my strong interpersonal skills make me an exceptionally patient and compassionate leader.

️ Welcome to Tech 101! ️

I am so excited to see you taking the first step towards becoming more comfortable with technology.

If you're nervous - don't be! Your curriculum will be custom-tailored to your specific learning style, experience, and comfort level, so that you can walk away from these sessions feeling more confident and ready to take on the world of tech.

Tech 101 is designed with a very unique and practical focus; to develop a highly pivotal skill that I refer to as "Tech Independence."

Tech Independence is rooted in an understanding that modern technology is constantly changing. It is, sadly, very common amongst many people to feel as if they are being left behind by the world because they just can't keep up with it all.

"Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day. Teach a man how to fish and he can feed himself for the rest of his life."

This is what Tech Independence is all about!

By knowing how to find the information that you need when you need it, you don't need to stress about knowing everything there is to know as it comes out.

These sessions are designed to get you ahead of the game. You will be given a solid foundation in basic technology principles, while also developing effective research and resourcefulness skills.

Depending on your specific needs, our sessions may include functional tech practices - how to navigate your device, use your email, download files, install software, and how to safely browse the internet.

We may also delve into basic cybersecurity principles, to show you how to navigate your devices while protecting your sensitive data. You'll learn how to recognize when a downloadable file or application may contain malicious software, or when an email, phone call, text, or link could either be a scam or contain a virus. For smartphones, we would go over how to recognize when an app may contain malicious software.

We will discuss and develop effective internet research skills; how to properly vet your sources for accurate information, and how to recognize when a source does not contain valid information. Additionally, we will explore device and software troubleshooting practices; no more sitting on the phone for 3 hours to speak with a technician, or dropping hundreds of dollars every time something is wrong with your devices!

Optionally, we can also delve into other various topics, such as how certain devices function (varying from phones or PCs, all the way up to niche products such as magnetic wireless chargers or bone conduction headphones), how to use applications such as Microsoft Office or Google Suite, what certain terms like IPv4, IPv6, IMEI, and MAC address mean, what things like Artificial Intelligence, VPNs, WiFi-Direct Access Points and Proxy Servers are and how to use them, and much more. We can also explore cybersecurity in more depth, such as how to recognize when your device has experienced a cybersecurity event, how to decipher the sub-type of security threat, and how to respond to a security event.

Your first session will be a 30 minute consultation to discuss your learning goals and particular needs as a client.

Subsequential lessons are typically one hour, at $40/hour.
