About Ionut

I have been a mentor and tutor since I was 17. Since then I had several opportunities to help with the studies of both young people and adults. I started as a volunteer in mentoring and tutoring for a support community foundation, carrying my work in school, special school for children with developmental problems and in a day centre for children. On an activity day, I normally had between 8 to 15 children of different ages and the main task was to help with the homework or carry activities such as painting, games or sports.
During university I did not have so many opportunities to tutor. I have helped a few of my colleagues with understanding different principles in science and assist in their essay writing up. I have also tutored an adult student in basic statistics.

About the lesson

I am current MSc student in Cognitive Psychology and Neuropsychology at University of Kent. I am very passionate about science, especially life science, and I like to teach about principles in anatomy, physiology and biology. I can tutor students in science from primary to first and second year university level. In my opinion, I will be most of help to students which are interested in pursuing a career in life science, for example biology, biomedical or nutrition, and need help with succeeding in passing their exams or understanding and reaching the required level of knowledge if struggling with the studies. As an word of advice, never be afraid of asking for help. Sometimes all is needed is a good push towards courage and confidence to learn and I can help with that.

Depending on the level of the student I have different ways of delivering the lessons. I have specific structures of delivery and high variety of teaching materials. However, I teach science, so one of my aims when comes to tutoring is to make students think outside the box and find ways so the knowledge comes naturally to them. I believe in active learning, therefor I deliver the lessons not just by laying out theory, but also through mind exercises and, where possible, activities.

I am a an ambitious person, that likes to achieve and succeed and I give my best to make students to also be ambitious, to work hard and aim for achieving and succeeding. I am very friendly and sociable and I always help with an advice if needed.

In addition to the lecture material I always help with explaining essay writing up, references and any other additional explanations that the student think it helps with his or her studies.
