About Charlotte

As of 2019, I am studying a MA in Music Composition. I have submitted two works; "Avian", a music theatre piece on Birds of Prey, and "Steam", a composition based on two steam engines used in industry. Under the label Lucky Boy Records, I have released two singles "Bombshell" (six airplays on BBC Introducing) and "Stratosphere" (Record of the Week in October 2018 and four airplays). I am currently working on a debut album to be released in 2019.

At the age of twelve, I began to take guitar lessons and quickly reached Grade 5 within two years of practice. At the start of my Music GCSE, I began to have vocal tuition of Music Theatre and Operatic Genres. During the first year of my A Levels, I passed my Diploma of the London College of Music and passed my Associate Diploma in my final year of Post Sixteen.

I quickly became involved in Music Theatre Productions, being cast roles such as Pop in "We Will Rock You", Narrator in "Joseph", Donna in "Mamma Mia!", the lead role of "Snow White", Abanazar in "Aladdin" and was a chorus member in the shows; "Back To The 80s!", "Bugsy Malone", "Grease", "Oliver!", "Cinderella" and "Little Shop of Horrors".

I performed two recitals as part of my degree, the first being Henry Purcell's Theatrical Works from The Fairy Queen and Don Quixote. For my final recital, I performed German Lied composed by Richard Strauss, more specifically works from Opus 10, 22 and 29. This followed with a trio of Operatic Works from "Wuthering Heights", "The Marriage of Figaro" and "Rusalka". Outside of University, I gave a solo performance in the Chesterfield Pomegranate Theatre, performing Italian Arias and German Lied.

I have played both Bass Guitar and Double Bass in the productions "Half A Sixpence," "Sweet Charity" and "The Threepenny Opera".

I have composed for the University of York Practical Project "A Portrait of the Artist" in a Contemporary Music Theatre style. For my solo project, I composed and directed a production of fourteen pieces based on the novel "The Night Circus."

About the lesson

I am offering tuition for voice, electric guitar, bass guitar and composition guidance from beginners to an advanced level.

My main objective for offering one to one tuition is to encourage students of all ages to pursue activities that they enjoy and to carry their passions both professionally and recreationally.

As a tutor, I intend to broaden the repertoire of each student, reduce performance anxiety, to encourage students to develop a good performance style that is both expressive and at ease. During lessons, I will also encourage students to develop good music technique and general music knowledge. If the student wishes to pursue Music to a professional level, I am able to enter the pupil for examinations of the appropriate level.

I can also offer guidance for compositions of students undertaking their GCSE or A Level in Music. I have had the opportunity and experience to compose during my Undergraduate Degree continuing through to my Master of Arts. I was awarded a first class for a submission based on "The Sermons" of "A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man" by James Joyce.

I studied a Bachelor of Arts in Music at the University of York, here I had the opportunity to sculpture my degree to my strengths. During my music studies, I studied music composition and produced a submission of fourteen Music Theatre pieces for my Solo Project.

I have undertaken examinations of the exam boards ABRSM, LCM and Rockschool. This has given me the opportunity to explore several different genres of music and good knowledge of suitable repertoire. Whether it is a programme of German Lied or Progressive Rock Music, I can offer my advice and guidance on material selection.
