About Darly

I am an visual artist and educator from the Netherlands but based between Dublin and Rotterdam. As a lecturer in both 2nd and 3dn level art education, its my passion guiding youngsters in their interest in art and design. I will challenge the students to look at the world through through the eyes of an artist that is driven be exploring and expanding the students fascinations and passions. My passion is driven by not telling the student how to look but where to look. By doing this I hope I can challenge the student to explore and experiment with differnt media and materials.

About the lesson

Private or small group tutoring for students between 16 and 21 that have a significant interest in art with the aim of pursuing applying for third level art and design studios. The lesson focus on artistic process, portfolio reviews and encouraging experiments in material and conceptual thinking. Through small assigments, making and feedback sessions, the students are being guided in building up a strong portfolio.

The classes are four hours per week divided over two evenings (17:00pm-19:00pm). During the classes the students are partly working on their assignments, have feedback sessions, and are given theoretical and practical input on their artistic development The assignments will be collected in an online programme Adobe Sparks, that gives access to all invited parties. In case of absence or sickness, the students and the tutors still have access to the student's work. Only 30% are expected to work individually on the assignments. The aim of the classes is to collaborative on work and reflect on the student's process during the classes. An active and assertive attitude is required during the lessons. This way of working stimulated the students to get acquainted with the learning process within a semi and professional art setting.

I am a qualified art educator, holding a master's in education in arts from the Piet Zwart Institute, The Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam and currently in the Master Fine Arts At The National College of Art and Design in Dublin. I have been teaching in secondary education and at The Willem de Kooning Academy (3rd level) in Rotterdam for the last seven years.
