About Adora

Hello! My name is Adora Nguyen. I have been working with children for 7 years. Since I was in high school, I have been teaching in enrolled programs that have ranged from zoos, outreach programs, and at a Montessori School. Growing up in Montessori and teaching at a Montessori certified school, I have developed a teaching style that is more about positive reinforcement and positive learning.

I love teaching. One of the most important things for me about teaching is developing relationships with students. After receiving my Bachelor's in Psychology, I have explored many roles, and after 2 years in management, I have decided to come back to teaching. One of the main reasons why I love teaching is the students. Although working with my fellow colleagues was great, students have a better outlook on life. I believe that as an educator we should nurture that ray of sunshine in the youth.

As COVID became a prevalent issue, I have changed my way of life and went back to teaching in having the deep desire to educate and help younger generations. As an Outschool Virtual Instructor in Arithmetic and Algebra, I have over a year of experience in teaching online with children of all ages. I have also taught art and similar fun classes as well. Alongside my teaching experience, I am a 120-HR certificate TEFL instructor.

About the lesson

For 7 years, I have worked with children of different age ranges. As a former education director assistant for an outreach program, I have worked with many children in assisting with math-related problems. In doing so, I have worked heavily with the middle school range math. My philosophy in teaching is creating a thriving conversation about the strugglings and successes of the child. Learning should be about the journey in which we learn about ourselves. My philosophy and the way I teach is heavily influenced by my experience growing up and working in a Montessori environment.

Listed below are my qualifications:
1. College degree in Psychology
2. As a teen, I was enrolled in Vanderbilt University Math and Science Program where I had work heavily with many math methods.
3. In college, for 3 1/2 years, I was a educational director assistant where I was mainly working on math with children ranging 3 to 16 years old.
4. In college, I was a Montessori teacher for infant and toddler courses where I have gain a background in teaching with positive reinforcement and learning.
5. After college, for another year, I worked with family friends and tutoring their family members in high school math (Algebra I & II and Geometry).
6. TEFL certification where I have received 120 HR training in teaching all age ranges.
7. Since March of 2020, I have worked for Outschool providing extensive courses on arithmetic and Algebra.
