About Sami

I'm a Virginia Tech-trained engineer with a 3.9 GPA and a passion for making math meaningful. I've worked across a range of industries — from manufacturing environments and assembly lines to developing software in large, complex financial systems — and through it all, I’ve seen firsthand how essential math is in solving real-world problems.

Like many students, I once asked “When will I ever use this?” I didn’t truly understand what calculus was about until I:

- Modeled fluid flow through industrial piping systems in engineering,

- Analyzed reaction rates in chemistry using derivatives, and

- Studied stock price fluctuations with calculus and statistics to predict trends.

These experiences helped me realize how powerful — and practical — math really is. I only wish someone had connected those dots for me sooner.

One thing I’ve noticed is that many students feel insecure about their math skills, often believing that struggling with math reflects on their intelligence. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Math is a learned skill — not an innate talent — and with the right support and approach, every student can improve and gain confidence.

As a tutor, that’s exactly what I do. I help middle schoolers, high school students, and adult learners master math by connecting it to their interests — whether that’s sports, space, business, cars, or video games. I explain concepts clearly, with patience and purpose, so students walk away with confidence and understanding.

If you're looking for someone who brings both academic excellence and real-world insight to tutoring, I’d love to help.

Sami has been such a wonderful math tutor for my 7th and 11th graders. He comes to our home each week and teaches them both, always making sure they feel comfortable, confident, and truly understand the material before moving on. He has a calm and encouraging way of explaining things that makes even the harder topics feel manageable.

What I love most is seeing the excitement on my kids’ faces when they tell me, “I aced my math quiz!” — something that never used to happen. Their grades have improved, but even more importantly, their confidence in math has grown tremendously. They actually enjoy learning with Sami and look forward to his sessions.

We feel very lucky to have found Sami. He genuinely cares, makes learning enjoyable, and has made a real difference for both of my children. I highly recommend him!

As I was going through a role transition, finding Sami was something I truly felt grateful for. He tutored me in math, and was honestly one of the most patient and thoughtful people I’ve worked with. He took the time to understand how I learn and adjusted his approach accordingly which made a huge difference. He didn’t just explain things and move on— he made sure I actually understood the material in interior design and sustainability like HVAC related calcs so everything felt relevant and way less intimidating. Super supportive, super smart, and just a genuinely great tutor.
