About Susan
I have been teaching for over ten years. My students have ranged in age from 4 to 68, and in skill level from beginning to advanced. I do not expect all my students to become concert violinists and violists, but as an instructor I strive to inspire and equip students to reach their most ambitious musical goals. I am certified in the Suzuki Method through violin book 6.

Having made a career for myself as a music educator, performer, and collaborative artist, I teach a wide range of students. For young beginners, I use the Suzuki method in which I was trained as a student myself. However, for advanced students (beyond Suzuki book 5) and most adults I use a hybrid method that draws on a wide variety of technical method books (Galamian, Flesch, Shradieck, Sevcik, Kreutzer, Dont, Rhode, Callus) and the philosophies of other major pedagogues such as Paul Rolland and Kodaly.
