I specialize in teaching violin & viola with classical and Suzuki lessons, with integrated music theory and harmony training.
I teach students in person and online in New York, London, Vienna, Rome, Paris, Pittsburgh, Washington DC, and Los Angeles. I believe in a tailored lesson set up; a manageable routine that fits each individual’s lifestyle and yet achieves constant progression. I encourage my students to work independently and learn to coach themselves, to aim for the highest potential, and work diligently, all with understanding and flexibility with school work and extra curricular commitments.
What sets my teaching apart is that it’s not about lessons—it’s a lifestyle. My students are very important to me, and I care deeply about all aspects of their lives: musical, intellectual, emotional, spiritual. By nurturing each student as a person and developing his or her individual strengths and interests, I empower the entire, unique person as the foundation of the musician.
In my studio, students will find a secure yet stimulating environment in which to explore their boundaries. In return, I expect a high degree of commitment—starting with practice.
My students write daily practice journals that I read and respond to. Consistent and effective practicing is obviously important, but overlooked more often than you’d think. Practice is the glue that links one lesson to the next.
Aggressive goals are set with buy-in from students and their parents, but are not set in stone. Objectives and ambitions can be re-evaluated as students progress and mature. Perhaps the goal-setting process is just as important as the accomplishment. What is irrevocable, however, are the high musical standards that students should come to expect from themselves.
In the end, I want my students to play the violin with joy, confidence and passion, and to learn to live as generous, humble, triumphant people. We embark on the journey together.

Claire is an incredibly patient and skilled teacher who creates a comfortable learning environment. She’s reliable, encouraging, and genuinely cares about her students’ progress — a truly trustworthy instructor.
Claire has been our daughter’s professor of violin for over 10 years, in London, Paris, Sweden, and Italy. She is by far the most patient, incredibly inspiring, reliable, and qualified teacher we have ever encountered in any subject (and we have known many!). We trust her completely in every aspect of our daughter’s professional and personal development, and she is a role model in more ways than one. She works around our hectic schedule with flexibility and gives online sessions no matter where we are in the world. Thank you to Claire for helping our daughter develop and sustain her love for music, a gift that stays in our family and has changed both our lives and quality of life perspective.
