About Ian
With 13 years of experience, I offer tailored violin lessons for students of all ages, focusing on classical technique, improvisation, and performance skills. My teaching approach is designed to meet the unique needs of each student, whether they are beginners or advanced players looking to refine their craft. By fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment, I aim to build confidence and proficiency, helping students to enhance their musical journey with expert guidance and personalized instruction.
In my lessons, I emphasize the importance of mastering classical techniques while also encouraging creativity through improvisation. This balanced approach ensures that students not only develop a strong technical foundation but also explore their musical expression and individuality. Performance skills are a key component of my teaching, as I believe that sharing music with others is a vital aspect of a musician's growth. Through regular practice, tailored exercises, and performance opportunities, I help students build the skills necessary to become well-rounded and confident violinists.
Outside of teaching, I have a passion for various interests that enrich my life and influence my approach to music education. I am an avid reader, particularly enjoying literature that delves into the history and evolution of music. This passion helps me bring a deeper context and understanding to my lessons. Additionally, I enjoy hiking and often find inspiration in nature, which I believe adds a unique dimension to my teaching style. Photography is another hobby of mine, especially capturing the beauty of landscapes and natural scenes. These interests allow me to connect with my students on multiple levels, making my lessons not only about music but also about exploring creativity and finding inspiration in the world around us.

With 13 years of dedicated experience, I offer tailored violin lessons designed for students of all ages, focusing on classical technique, improvisation, and performance skills. My approach is customized to meet the unique needs and goals of each student, whether they are just beginning their musical journey or seeking to refine their existing skills. By fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment, I help students build confidence and proficiency, ensuring they achieve their full potential as violinists.
In my lessons, I emphasize the importance of mastering classical techniques as the foundation for all violin playing. Through structured practice routines and a focus on technical excellence, students develop the skills necessary to perform a wide range of classical repertoire. Simultaneously, I encourage creativity and self-expression through improvisation, allowing students to explore different musical styles and develop their unique voice on the violin. Performance skills are also a crucial part of my teaching, as I believe that sharing music with others is essential for a musician's growth. Regular performance opportunities and feedback help students gain confidence and stage presence.
Outside of teaching, I have a range of interests that enhance my approach to music education. I am an avid reader, particularly enjoying books on music history and theory, which helps me bring a rich context to my lessons. My love for hiking allows me to draw inspiration from nature, infusing my teaching with a sense of creativity and exploration. Photography is another hobby of mine, especially capturing the beauty of landscapes and natural scenes. These passions not only enrich my life but also provide me with a broader perspective that I bring into the classroom, creating a well-rounded and inspiring learning experience for my students.
