About David

I have a degree in Political Theory & Institutions from Liverpool University - 1987, a PGCE, Wolverhampton 1988 and an MSc in Multimedia and Education from Huddersfield University in 2001. I was a full-time teacher for many years and the last eighteen were at Greenhead College where I still do occasional cover and tutorial work. This has allowed me to keep my teaching up to date. I have done supply work at two local sixth forms when they needed a politics teacher in the run-up to exams. The results were very good. I have taught on many courses and to different exams and boards as well as spending fifteen years as an examiner. This means I can help any student to improve their grade. I have an enhanced DBS certificate which is renewed annually.

About the lesson

Although I have retired from full-time education, I jumped early to enjoy life, I am still interested in teaching and learning and keen to help students do well in exams. Students find me friendly and helpful and I am always willing to take a flexible approach to education. I have been doing this for many years and have a long track record of excellent results. I can help students improve their grade whatever their starting point with the subject. I normally teach in one-hour blocks but can be flexible. I will answer questions and mark work between sessions. My approach is very exam focused and I use whatever is happening in politics as examples to do this. My aim is to make the sessions purposeful and interesting. If you search my name on Tutorful you will find some lovely reviews written by ex-students .

He worked tirelessly on both a one to one and whole class teaching programme where he was quickly able to ascertain gaps in knowledge and create bespoke materials for our students.
