About Lyra

With over 8 years of experience as a vocal instructor and a BM in Jazz Vocal Performance, I bring a performance-driven and student-centered approach to singing lessons. I work with singers from a wide range of backgrounds, including school students, college-level performers, and adult or professional vocalists. My specialty is musical theater and Broadway singing, where technique must support storytelling and character authenticity. I help students learn how to act through song, using clear intention, emotional connection, and vocal clarity. Stage presence plays a major role in my teaching, and I guide singers in building confidence, focus, and expressive freedom. Belt technique is taught carefully and safely, allowing students to access power without tension or strain. I also emphasize vocal agility, preparing singers for quick transitions in range, style, and emotion. My jazz training allows me to incorporate ear training, harmony, improvisation, and music theory into lessons naturally. These skills help students become more independent and adaptable musicians. I believe in nurturing each voice rather than forcing it into a specific mold. Lessons are interactive, encouraging, and tailored to individual needs. My goal is to help singers feel confident, prepared, and excited to perform on stage.

About the lesson

My methodology for teaching singing is rooted in expression, clarity, and connection. Singing is about sharing a story with others. I guide students through lyric interpretation to uncover meaning and emotion. This builds strong emotional connection and confidence. We focus on storytelling through singing by exploring intention and phrasing. I help singers think about how their voice reaches an audience. Technique supports freedom and stability. I work especially well with expressive musical theater styles, including pieces similar to Fiddler on the Roof and The Music Man. I dedicate time to refining emotional impact. Lessons are supportive and interactive. I help students trust their voice and message. Growth is encouraged gently. Singing becomes communication, not pressure. Students truly embody their songs.
