About Ariana

I am Ariana Arthur. I am currently a student at Varsity College and in my final year of studying Bachelor of Education in the Foundation Phase. I've always wanted to be a teacher because I spent every Sunday at church with children who were raised in a neighbourhood where they couldn't always receive what they wanted. To accomplish what they desired, they had to work twice as hard. They missed the chances I enjoyed as a child. My heart broke as I watched the kids get up early, travel to a far community tap to get water, walk to school, and then repeat the process when they got home. During one Sunday School lesson, I was teaching a little girl how to write her name. At first, she just couldn't grasp it but after 2 lessons she could write her name perfectly. Seeing the smile on her face when she could write her name filled me with joy and happiness. I want to work as a teacher so that I can give these young children, equal opportunities as the rest of us, so they can succeed in life and make a name for themselves in the future.

About the lesson

I will plan my lessons according to the learners' styles that my students work well with. This may include listening to soft calming music or learning via visual aids and mind maps. I want to see my students grow as an individual therefore if they do not understand a topic, i will stop and re-explain in a different way or using a different method to help until they have understood the concept.
