About Maria

Hi! I'm currently a freshman at Valparaiso University, and I graduated high school early at the age of 16. I've always enjoyed helping others, especially children, and I believe that every student deserves the opportunity to learn in a way that works best for them.

I've gained experience working with children by helping my niece with her schoolwork. These experiences have helped me become more patient, understanding, and encouraging.

I also know firsthand what it's like to struggle in school, especially when something doesn't make sense no matter how many times it's explained. I understand how frustrating and discouraging it can feel when everyone else seems to understand something while you're still trying to figure it out. That's one of the reasons I want to become a tutor. I want students to have someone who understands their struggles and won't make them feel embarrassed for asking questions or needing extra help.

My teaching approach is all about patience, encouragement, and breaking things down into smaller, easier steps. I understand that everyone learns differently, and what works for one student might not work for another. I'm always willing to try different explanations and approaches to help students better understand the material.

I offer math tutoring for elementary, middle, and high school students in the areas I'm comfortable teaching. My goal isn't just to help students complete their assignments, but to help them understand what they're learning and gain confidence in themselves.

I want every student I work with to know that struggling with something doesn't mean they aren't smart. Sometimes, all it takes is a little extra time, patience, and someone who genuinely cares about helping them succeed.

About the lesson

Hi! I'm currently a college student at Valparaiso University, and I enjoy helping children learn and build confidence in themselves. I've gained experience helping my niece with schoolwork and spending time teaching and guiding my younger nephew, who hasn't started school yet.

I understand that everyone learns differently, and sometimes it takes a little extra patience or a different explanation for something to finally make sense. My goal is to create a comfortable and encouraging environment where students don't feel embarrassed to ask questions or make mistakes.

I offer math tutoring for elementary, middle, and high school students, focusing on subjects I'm confident teaching. Whether it's practicing basic math skills, reviewing homework, or breaking down challenging problems step by step, I want to help students learn at their own pace and feel more confident in their abilities.
