About Kseniya

I have graduated the Vaganova Ballet Academy in 2016 with a bachelor's degree diploma and after that joined the Mikhailovsky theater in Saint Petersburg where I am performing classical and character solo parts. As a dancer I've worked with a lot of incredible teachers choreographers and other dancers, and I'd be happy to share all of the knowledge I got from them with you. I have more than 15 years of experience as a professional dancer and 5 years as a ballet and stretching coach and constantly improving myself as a professional. As a teacher I've worked with the students of all levels from the very beginners (my youngest student was 5 y.o.) who were just starting their dancing path to the professional dancers who wanted to improve their technique. Moreover I've been teaching a group of non professional adults for 2 years, so If you've never done ballet before, but want to try something new I might be the right person to help you.

As a methodology base for my classes I use the famous Vaganova method which I studied for 10 years with the best ballet teachers and professors at the Academy of Russian Ballet in Saint-Petersburg. Also, my own over 15 years dancing experience, helps me to explain a lot of complicated things with simple words and metaphors during the classes.
Within the lesson we will really focus on the correct technique of the movements and its style, so you will not only learn how to do elements correctly but also will understand how to make your dance look beautiful and catching for audience.
Moreover I can help you to improve your extensions, turnout, pirouettes, jumps and feet work during our classes and provide some additional exercises to be done by yourself.
As a teacher I stand for a positive approach in the educational process, because I am deeply convinced that this kind of attitude is one of the main keys to improvement.

So, to sum up, you can study with me:
1. Ballet classes (beginners, intermediate, advanced)
2. Ballet repertoire
3. Point work
4.Gymnastics for ballet
5. Floor barre (Knyasev gymnastics)
6. Stretching

The lessons are held ONLINE, privately or in groups, the schedule is flexible.
Languages: English, Russian

  • What age did you start playing sport? Tell us about this time or moment in your life.

I started dancing at a very early age, basically since I've learned how to walk. So to me and my parents, it was obvious where to direct my energy. As a child, I took a lot of dance and gymnastics classes, participated in different local and international competitions, and at the age of 10, I entered Vaganova Ballet Academy in Saint-Petersburg, which is considered to be one of the best professional ballet schools in the world. It was a life-changing event for me, a starting point for my future career as a ballet dancer and an artist.
  • What are your favorite sports; those that you practice at a high level, a simple hobby, and a sport that you'd still like to discover?

As a ballet dancer, I do a lot of professional ballet training and those kinds of sports that help me maintain the required physical shape, such as yoga, pilates, and functional training. Also, I do skiing, horseback riding, and surfing as a hobby. And definitely, I would like to explore tennis in the future.
  • What gives you the motivation and passion to pursue your sport?

I think what motivates me the most is the feeling you get when performing on stage. When you're able to share the result of your work with an audience and feel an energy exchange with them. Also, I just really enjoy the training process itself, how it shapes my body and improves my dancing technique.
  • Do you have a sporting achievement that you're particularly proud of?

Probably the biggest achievement in my career is the fact that I'm currently working with one of the best and most well-known ballet companies in Russia and of course I'm very proud of the fact that I'm not only dancing corps de ballet but also performing a lot of solo classical variations and character parts with them.
  • How have your achievements and challenges made you a better sportsperson?

As a child I was not flexible at all, I've been constantly told by the teachers that physical opportunities of my body are not good enough for doing ballet on the professional level. But it didn't sound like an insurmountable obstacle to me, it only meant that I had to work more and harder than students with a better physique. To be honest, there were many moments when I wanted to give up because it is very difficult psychologically to force yourself to continue despite the lack of progress. But I'm very grateful to my family and teachers who supported me and helped me to understand that everyone just needs a different amount of time and effort to achieve appropriate results. So all these challenges in the beginning not only forced me to improve my physique but also helped me to develop strong self-discipline, character, and dedication which are essential for every dancer and sportsperson.
  • If you had to go for a jog with a famous athlete, who would you choose? And what questions would you ask them?

It is an interesting question because ballet dancers are barely jogging, but I think it would be really interesting to me to take classes in person from different famous teachers and choreographers of the past such as Enrico Checchetti, Agrippina Vaganova, George Balanchine, August Bournonville and many others because they all had their very special system and structure of the class so I could learn a lot of new nuances of different dancing styles and techniques.
  • How do you help people stay motivated?

When teaching I always focus on the request and current level of the student to design the class the most effective way in each particular case. I think one of the secrets of consistent motivation is the sense of achievement that the student gains at the end of the lesson, so it has to be challenging but still manageable to complete. Also with the consent of the student, I can provide a video footage of the exercises performed by them during the class so they can see their mistakes better and work on them. I think it is a great tool to track your progress and keep yourself motivated.
  • What makes you a Superprof in sports?

I think in my case it's a combination of the highest quality training, rich performing experience, consistent interest and growth in what I'm doing, and willing to share my knowledge and experience with others.
