About Poulami

Hello! I’m Poulami, a PhD-trained biologist with more than 10 years of experience in academic and biomedical research.

My scientific career has taken me through leading research institutions and the biotechnology industry, where I have worked in areas including human physiology, immunology, molecular and cell biology, infectious diseases, vaccines, and human disease research. Along the way, one of the parts of science I have enjoyed most has been mentoring others and making difficult biological concepts easier to understand.

I know that biology can sometimes feel overwhelming because of the amount of terminology and information involved. My goal is to help students move beyond memorization and genuinely understand how biological systems work. I am patient, encouraging, and happy to explain a concept in different ways until it makes sense.

I take preparation and professionalism seriously and tailor lessons to each student’s level, goals, and learning style. Whether a student needs help building confidence in biology, preparing for an exam, understanding a challenging topic, or developing more advanced scientific reasoning, I aim to provide a supportive and intellectually engaging learning experience.

I want my students to leave each lesson not only knowing more biology, but also feeling more confident in their ability to understand science.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is to make biology understandable, engaging, and connected to real life. With a PhD in Human Physiology and more than 10 years of experience in biological and biomedical research, I enjoy turning complex scientific concepts into clear, manageable ideas that students can understand and remember.

I adapt my teaching style to each student’s level, learning pace, and goals. Rather than focusing only on memorization, I use diagrams, everyday examples, step-by-step explanations, practice questions, and scientific problem-solving to help students understand why biological processes happen and how different concepts connect.

A typical lesson begins with a brief review of the student’s current topic and any areas of difficulty. I then explain the key concepts using simple examples and visual approaches, followed by guided questions or problems. We finish by reviewing the main takeaways and identifying anything that needs additional practice.

What sets me apart is my combination of strong academic training and real-world scientific experience. I can show students how topics such as cells, genetics, immunity, human physiology, molecular biology, and disease mechanisms are actually used in biomedical research and medicine. I also emphasize data interpretation, experimental thinking, and critical reasoning—skills that become increasingly important in advanced science courses.

My lessons are suitable for middle and high school students, including standard, honors, and AP Biology, as well as undergraduate students studying biology, human physiology, cell biology, molecular biology, immunology, and related life-science subjects.

Most importantly, I aim to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and gradually becoming more confident and independent in science.
