About Siya
Hello! I’m a University of Toronto Computer Science student with a strong background in mathematics, and I would love to help Ontario high school students succeed in Functions, Advanced Functions, and Calculus. As a tutor, my goal is simple: to help students truly understand math and feel confident solving problems on their own. Whether you're aiming for higher grades, preparing for university, or just want to feel less stressed in class — I can help. I take pride in being: Reliable and professional — always prepared and on time for lessons Patient and supportive — I never rush, and I make sure every student feels comfortable asking questions Clear and organized — I break down complex topics into manageable steps Results-focused — I adapt lessons to each student’s needs and track their progress With my tutoring, many students have improved their marks by 10–20% and, more importantly, gained the confidence to tackle math challenges on their own. If you're a high school student in Ontario looking to improve your math skills — or a parent looking for a dedicated and approachable tutor — feel free to reach out! I offer both online lessons and flexible scheduling to fit your needs.

Teaching methodology and techniques:
- I start by identifying gaps in understanding and strengthening core concepts.
- I break down complex ideas into simple, relatable steps using real-world examples when possible.
- I encourage students to ask questions and explain concepts back to me — this helps reinforce learning.
- For problem-solving, I teach proven strategies that students can apply during homework, tests, and exams.
- I adjust my pace and style based on each student’s needs — whether they want to catch up or get ahead.
A typical lesson plan:
- Quick review of previous material or homework
- Explain and explore today’s topic with examples and guided practice
- Walk through common mistakes and how to avoid them
- Practice problems — first together, then independently
- Short recap and plan for what to focus on next time
What sets me apart:
I’m a current University of Toronto Computer Science student, so I understand today’s high school math expectations very well. I relate to students — I know the challenges of balancing schoolwork and math stress! My lessons are friendly and supportive — I want every student to feel comfortable asking questions. I help students build confidence, not just better grades.
Who the lessons are for:
- High school students in Ontario (Grades 9-12)
- Students taking Functions, Advanced Functions, and Calculus
- Students who want to:
• Improve their understanding
• Build confidence
• Boost grades (aiming for 80s/90s or preparing for university-level math)
• Fill in gaps after missing classes or falling behind

Siya helped me through my trigonometry class and she really helped me understand the basics and more. She’s really passionate about teaching and I was finally able to understand concepts I had difficulty with for months. I believe her teaching style is truly unique and I recommend her to all my friends.
