About Lauren

I am a BA international studies student currently in my first year, looking to tutor any children struggling with English, maths or science up to the age of 16. When I was in primary school I struggled with maths and had to find alternative ways to learn and I believe from this I can transfer my methods of learning to other struggling students. I achieved all grade 7-9's (A-A**) in English literature, language, maths, triple science, French, PE and Geography. I continued to study and achieved straight A*'s in Geography, Sociology and Psychology at A levels. I am also a children's climbing instructor at a university and have volunteered in Zambia and South Africa on teaching projects with children and adults and therefore have a lot of experience in teaching different levels of academic abilities.

About the lesson

My teaching method is flexible and can incorporate anything the student or parent wishes to be tutored on. The lesson will typically last 45mins to 1 hour dependent for each session usually 1 or 2 times a week dependent on the student. Typically I will teach one subject per session and first identify their level of understanding of the topic. Then I will typically teach the content desired and consolidate gaps or weaker areas in existing knowledge, interacting and answering any questions the student may have. Finally I will ask the student to answers questions in an exam style to test their knowledge on what we have learnt during the session. Again, the teaching style is very flexible and can be adapted to accommodate every individual's wishes.
